Writing Since our last newsletter (November 2009), new books include three annual updates of Winning Wines and a novel, Endangered. The 2013 edition of Winning Wines was released nationally on 10/26/12 with a “Wine & Sign” at Tryon’s wine and beer boutique, La Bouteille. We had lots of fun, signing books, pouring wine, seeing old friends, and making new ones. Endangered, our first novel, continues to garner good reviews. Former NC poet laureate, Cathy Smith-Bowers, says: “Such tension is the mark of masterful writing. Bravo to the authors of this stunning mystery!” For our second suspense novel, we traveled across North America this past summer and fall, visiting Native American archeological sites. We’ll start writing after the holidays; its working title is Alternate Route. |

Photography We continue to take lots of photos! We took several thousand as we traveled approximately 15,000 miles across North America this past year to research our next novel. Many of these will be in a slideshow on our website (www.livesimplywithstyle.com/trip2012). A selection will be shared at the Pacolet Area Conservancy’s 1/12/13 program at Walnut Creek Preserve, “Traveling to Protected Places.” Below are 9 images from our trip. Of course, we did more than research archeological sites – other places included breweries, wineries, and restaurants. Too, we rendezvoused with our daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and granddaughter in Yellowstone National Park—a special time together in an extraordinary place. In Tryon, NC, framed photographs and signed notecards are sold at The Garden Gallery (83 Palmer Street). A selection of Western North Carolina imagery is available through Bravo Interior Design (285 N Trade Street). In nearby Saluda, NC, a few images decorate the walls of one of our favorite restaurants, The Purple Onion. |
